Swiss student presentation:
AfHB is making a presentation to a group of students from the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, who are researching “Entrepreneurship: Where do Innovation and humanity come together?” The presentation is on Wednesday, April 16th at 6.30 PM at the BSA Space. Free and open to all.

Renovate for Recovery:
AfHB is working with the BSA and the City of Boston to provide renovations for a victim of the Boston Marathon bombings. All the materials and services will be provided pro-bono. The first two phases, new front steps and a roof deck have been completed. Phase 3 : bathroom and interior renovations will be underway shortly.
Check out all the press about the project.

Plateau Central Vocational School, Haiti:
Ryan Smith took a trip to Haiti to look at the site first hand and get a sense for construction materials and techniques. We are working with a group of students from Keene State College who are adapting the existing Schematic Design to the new site boundary and working on the site plan. We are likely to have a design charette in Cambridge / Boston with a local firm and the students to take the project from SD to DD. A groundbreaking is planned in August.

SEPALI Textile Center, Madagascar :
The team has been working hard to get the site plan nailed down so that they can start pouring the foundation. We are still looking for volunteers with a strong interest or knowledge in Bamboo construction and detailing to help detail the project.

Project Refuge:
Michael Kyes spent 10 days in Nepal a few weeks ago and helped in digging the foundations for this children’s home designed for 40 kids in Tikapur in the plains for Nepal. Construction is progressing steadily since then and we are likely to look at more flood-resistant houses in the low lying areas in a few months.

Planning is underway for this year’s expo booth. We are likely to have an enclosure with presentations, ideas welcome !

As always, we are always looking for new ways to fund our projects.
If you are someone who has an interest in fundraising, we would love it if you could come to our meetings.
Here are some current fundraisers:
